Introduction low alloy structural steel (S355NL)
Low alloy structural steel is a kind of steel that is added to ordinary carbon steel by adding a small amount of trace alloying elements to make the steel properties change. It has better properties than ordinary carbon steel, and also has some special properties, such as high temperature resistance and low temperature resistance. This kind of alloy steel belongs to low alloy steel because the total amount of alloying elements in this steel is not much.
Low alloy steel includes weldable low alloy and high strength structural steel, low alloy weathering steel, low alloy steel for reinforcing bar, low alloy steel for railway, low alloy steel for mining and other low alloy steels.
Characteristic(S355NL)
(1) low carbon: its carbon content is not more than 0.20% due to the high requirements of toughness, weldability and cold forming.
(2) adding manganese - based alloy elements.
(3) adding additional elements such as niobium, titanium or vanadium: a small amount of Nb, Ti or V forms fine carbide or carbides in steel, which is conducive to obtaining fine ferrite grains and improving strength and toughness of steel.
In addition, adding a small amount of copper (less than 0.4%) and phosphorus (about 0.1%), can improve the corrosion resistance. The addition of a small amount of rare earth elements can be used to remove and degassing, to purify the steel and to improve the toughness and technological properties.
Application(S355NL)
It is mainly used in the manufacture of bridges, ships, vehicles, boilers, high pressure vessels, oil and gas pipelines, large steel structures, etc.
