Introduction surface hardening structural steel (16MnCrB5)
The so-called surface hardening means that the surface of the part is hardened by a proper method and the heart of the part still has a strong toughness.
Through this treatment, the wearability and fatigue resistance of parts can be improved, and because the heart of parts still has good toughness and strength, so it has good resistance to impact load.
The main methods of surface hardening are carburization, nitriding, hard anodic oxidation, chromium plating, surface hardening and metal infiltration.
The carburizing steel parts steel is low carbon heating or insulation in carburizing medium, the carbon atoms penetrate into the surface, get a certain amount of carbon in the surface, after quenching, the high carbon content of the surface hardness is very high, and low carbon core hardness low still has good toughness the. The purpose is to make the parts with high surface hardness, wear resistance, high contact fatigue strength and bending fatigue strength. It is mainly used for parts such as shafts, gears, camshafts and so on, which bear wear, alternating contact stress or bending stress and impact load.
