Introduction Carbon Tool Steel(1.1830)
Tool steel refers to a variety of carbon and alloy steels that are particularly well-suited to be made into tools. Their suitability comes from their distinctive hardness, resistance to abrasion and deformation, and their ability to hold a cutting edge at elevated temperatures. As a result, tool steels are suited for use in the shaping of other materials.
Carbon tool steel has low production cost, convenient raw material source, easy cold and hot working, high hardness after heat treatment, and good wear resistance under low heating condition, so it has been widely applied. Among them, high quality carbon tool steel has high toughness and high degree of finish in grinding. It is suitable for making tools with complex shape and high precision. However, the hardness and wear resistance of this kind of steel decreased rapidly after the working temperature was more than 250 degrees C. This kind of steel has low hardenability and the tool section size is more than 15mm, and the surface layer is high in hardness after water quenching, so it can not be used as a large size tool. The quenching temperature of this kind of steel is narrow, easy to overheat, the distortion and cracking tendency of the quenching is great, and it is easy to produce soft spots.
Application(1.1830)
Tool steels are used for cutting, pressing, extruding, and coining of metals and other materials. Their use, such as the production of injection molds, is essential, due to their resistance to abrasion, which is an important criterion for a mold that will be used to produce hundreds of thousands of moldings of a product or part.
