DC53 is a new type of cold working die steel for the improvement of SKD11 in Datong special steel in Japan. Its technical specification is contained in the Japanese industrial standard (JIS) G4404. It overcomes the weakness of SKD11's high tempering hardness and toughness. It will replace SKD11's high strength and toughness general cold die steel in the field of general and precision molds.

Introduction For DC53
Under appropriate heat treatment, the strength and toughness are excellent, and the hardness of high temperature tempering can reach 62~63HRC.
The toughness of DC53 is more prominent in the cold working die steel. The tools made by DC53 rarely appear crack and crack, which greatly improves the service life.
Residual stress after wire cutting is reduced by tempering at high temperature. Therefore, the crack and deformation of the large mold and the precision die are suppressed after the machining of the die on line.

Characteristic of DC53
(1) it is machinable and has good abrasiveness. The machinability is better than SKD11, so the tool life is longer and the processing hours are less.

(3) the advantage of online cutting is that the high temperature tempering can reduce residual stress and eliminate residual iron. It can prevent cracks and deformation in wire cutting.
(4) the surface hardness of the surface hardening treatment is higher than that of SKD11, so the die performance can be improved.
